The right performance torque converter? How do you know

There are many Performance torque converters on the market today. So how do you know the correct one for your application? Horsepower, cam specs, weight of the vehicle, engine size are all determining factors. A good torque converter rebuilder will use these specifications to build a torque converter for your application. When deciding on the stall range, you will want to know the power range of your cam. A good rule of thumb is approximately 500 RPM above the base line. So, if you have a camshaft with a power range of 2200 RPM to 5800RPM, you will want to buy a torque converter with a 2600 to 2800 stall This is assuming that you have a 350 or 400 transmission.  700R4 2600-up stall? There are alot of factors to consider. I will be happy to give more in future blogs. In the meantime you should have faith in your torque converter rebuilder and remember that one size does not fit all.

  1. I am thinking of getting a TC from winners choice. I am building a street/strip car and I am on a budget. I am just wondering about the quality for the price. If I could get a little input it would be great!
